Never being one to waste where he didn’t need to, Leo strove to find something small enough to use the scraps of skin he had left over from building his larger drums. After thumbing through an old book on making instruments for kids, he came across the idea to use Terra Cotta flower pots. Learning by trial and error, he finally found an effective system for attaching the skins. Hundreds of these drums have been made and sold since.

These drums are decorated with bright motifs using acrylic paint, stencils, and stamps. Some common themes are frogs, teddy bears, flowers, outer space, vehicles, the farm, the sun and moon, goldfish, and dinosaurs. They are approximately 5” tall by 5” high. All drums come with mallets that match the colour scheme. They are remarkably durable – even if they are dropped or crack the tension of the skin and strings will hold the drum together.
